Tungiasis in the Amazon
Amazon Memory - September 2018
This video touches on the life cycle of the Tunga penetrans, a sand flea spends part of its life cycle in your skin feeding on your blood and laying eggs. It's not a fatal disease but it can cause a world of pain if you succumb to secondary infections. I also share my experience serving as a host for these tiny little fleas (3:28) and how it was removed during my 2018 trip.
